The IRP Foundation Zurich/Geneva invites applications and nominations for the
IRP - Schellenberg Prize 2012
The International Foundations for Research in Paraplegia, IRP Geneva and Zurich support basic and clinical research in the area of neuroprotection/neuroregeneration and spinal cord injury and recovery.
In addition to giving grants for research projects selected by an international panel of experts on the basis of a detailed evaluation, the Foundations IRP have set up the IRP-Schellenberg Prize for Research – worth CHF 150’000 annually – in memory of its founder member Ulrich Schellenberg (1939 –2001).
The IRP-Schellenberg Prize for Research is in principle given annually to a physician or scientist whose work and recent scientific contributions, are highly original and have lead to significant advances in the field of spinal cord injury and recovery, neuroprotection / neuroregeneration or rehabilitation.
The winner shall use the prize money solely for research by, for example, employing a collaborator and/or financing laboratory costs or equipment. Winners are also expected to submit a financial and scientific report on the use of Prize money within two years of receiving it.
The IRP-Schellenberg Prize is internationally promoted in the scientific community and proposals and submissions can also be solicited from people and organizations with knowledge of the above-mentioned area and who are active in it. The nominee’s dossier must include a description of principal results obtained, one or more recent articles as well as a current CV and a list of articles published in the last five years.
Details are given on the IRP website
IRP/IFP Research Grants in the field of “basic and clinical research on CNS regeneration neuroprotection and functional restoration”;
IRP/IFP Postdoctoral Fellowship in the field of “basic research in one or several aspects of CNS & spinal cord lesions and repair”;
The deadline for applications is October 31st, 2011, with decisions to be made by the IRP/IFP Scientific Council in February 2012.
